The Short story: Senior guard Joshua McClary scored 24 points Saturday afternoon as Roanoke College men's basketball team defeated Saint Vincent College 101-57 in the championship game of the Frankie Allen Tip-Off Tournament in the Cregger Center.
McClary fell just short of his career high of 27. He also added seven assists and five steals on the day.
How it happened:
*The Bearcats opened a 7-4 lead in the game's first three minutes, but a 19-0 Maroon run, fueled by 11 points from McClary, turned the tide and put Roanoke ahead 23-7.
*Roanoke led 49-28 at halftime and quickly made it a 30-point advantage.
Inside the numbers:
*Patrick Clevenger finished with 12 points, five rebounds and three steals.
*Jackson Bell scored 11 points while Joshua Morse had 10.
*Clayton Gaither and Marcus Morgan each had eight points and four boards.
*The Maroons broke the century mark for the first time since Jan. 25, 2022 (101-53 win over Ferrum).
*Dev Ostrowski and Osyon Jones each had 11 points for Saint Vincent (2-1).
