Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team defeated Farmingdale State College today at the Bradley Center on 'Chuck McBreen Court' in non-conference action, 67-48. The Roadrunners move to 2-0 overall while the Rams now stand at 1-1 on the year.
The Roadrunners held the Rams, who averaged 84.8 points during the 2023-2024 season, to just 48 points this afternoon. The Ramapo defense forced 14 Ram turnovers which led to ten points for the Roadrunners. In the first half, the Rams built an early 12-6 lead before a 9-0 run by the Roadrunners gave them a 15-12 lead. A three-pointer from Branden Moore started the run before Peter Gorman gave the team the lead with back-to-back baskets with 11:00 on the clock. Tyrell Murchison scored on a tip-in before back-to-back baskets from FSC gave them a one point lead, 16-15. A three-pointer from Gorman started another 13-0 run which capped off the first half as Ramapo entered the locker room up 27-11. Jordan Myers scored six points during the run including his 1,000th career point in his final jumper of the half. Myers becomes the 24th Roadrunner in program history to reach this career milestone.
Ramapo outscored the Rams 39-32 in the second half as they were led by Myers who posted 18 points in the game while he grabbed eight rebounds with one assist. Gorman and Justin Bladen each scored nine points while Gorman added three assists, six rebounds and two steals. Anthony Corbo contributed with a team high 13 rebounds while adding eight points and one steal. Shane Rooney added eight points and four rebounds while Moore posted seven points. The team shot 43% (26-60) from the field, 23% (3-13) from the three-point line and 75% (12-16) from the free throw line.
For the Rams, Jevon Santos led the way with ten points while adding two steals and three rebounds. Michale Notias added nine points and seven rebounds while Liam Buckley led the team with 12 rebounds and five points. The team shot 30% (20-65) from the field, 15% (4-26) from the three-point line and 44% (4-9) from the free throw line.
The Roadrunners return to action on November 22nd when they travel to Springfield, MA for the Hampton Inn Holiday Classic hosted by Western New England College. Ramapo takes on Colby College on Friday at 8:00 PM.
