How it Happened

The first five minutes only saw 10 points between squads as the opening game of the season brought jitters and aggressive attempts at the basket in coverage.

"With it being our opener, we got caught being a little sloppy and out of our identity," said head coach Chad Dickman. "They controlled our tempo and that dictated how we wanted to move around our offense."

With that being said, the offense had to utilize tough buckets near the basket to keep pace. Javon Yarbrough was able to find daylight in his match up after checking in with a reverse layup to put the Blazers up 30-25 before weaving through two defenders on the next possession to score again.

Blazer defenders double teamed corner threats forcing opponents to move to the top of the key and throw into traffic which kept the Blazers out of murky waters.

Although Hood kept the lead most of the game, Notre Dame pulled within three points within three minutes to go looking to take the game.

The full court press became tough for Hood, but via fastbreak the Blazers sped away including a Linton layup that hit over the square and fell down and in to bring Hood up seven points after the foul and made shot to put it away.
