Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team opened the season with an 89-73 win over Lancaster Bible College tonight at the Bradley Center.
The Roadrunners built a 46-28 lead heading into the locker room at halftime while the Chargers came back in the second half. Ramapo would extend the lead to 21 points on a three-pointer from Anthony Corbo for a 54-33 lead before Lancaster Bible went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 13. They would once again cut the lead to 13 with 14:04 on the clock before Shane Rooney made back-to-back baskets for the Roadrunners on a dunk and layup for a 65-48 Ramapo lead.
The Roadrunners scored 50 points in the paint while they recorded 20 points off of Charger turnovers. Ramapo shot 51% (37-72) from the field, 50% (5-10) from the three-point line and 76% (10-13) from the free throw line. All five starters scored in double figures while they were led by Peter Gorman who tallied 23 points with nine assists, four rebounds and two steals. Jordan Myers added 14 points, six rebounds and one blocked shot. Justin Bladen posted 12 points, five assists and two rebounds while Rooney added 12 points and a team high 16 rebounds. Anthony Corbo contributed with 11 points, six rebounds and two steals while Tim Linton and Elijah Barlow saw significant minutes off the bench. Linton finished with eight points, three rebounds and two steals while Barlow added seven points, three rebounds and two steals.
The Chargers were led by Grant Sareyka with 17 points, three assists and two rebounds while Camden Hurst added 12 points and four rebounds. Daniel King led the way with six rebounds while he contributed with two points and one assist. Lancaster Bible recorded 30 points in the paint and shot 39% (29-73) from the field, 30% (9-30) from the field and 60% (6-10) from the free throw line.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, November 16th when they host Farmingdale State College at the Bradley Center at 3:00 PM.
