Shreveport - The No. 3 seed Centenary men's basketball team powered past the No. 2 seed University of St. Thomas Celts on Saturday afternoon by a score of 64-51 in the second semifinal of the 2024 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship inside a frenzies Gold Dome to advance to Sunday's title game.
The Gents (16-11) will face No. 4 seed Colorado College (16-11) at Noon on their home court with an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament at stake. Colorado College upset No. 1 seed Trinity (23-3) in Saturday's first semifinal, 71-70.
Saturday's win secured the Gents' fifth appearance in the SCAC Tournament championship game (2014, 2015, 2018, 2020, 2024) and third under Dorsey's direction (2018, 2020, 2024). The Gents won the title following the 2019-20 season against Texas Lutheran, 77-56 in Kerrville, Texas.
