Vikings Cruise Past Millsaps

JACKSON, Miss. - The Vikings big second half surged them past SAA opponent Millsaps in today's road victory, 81-47.

Scoring 20-points off of the Majors turnovers and dominating 44-14 in the paint deemed successful in Berry's victory.

Leading scorer, Blake Campbell started the game off with a triple that Millsaps quickly responded to. The Majors continued to prove themselves across the first half, responding to big buckets from Braxton BenhamBryce Clark, and Campbell after losing by 20 in The Cage last weekend.

The back-and-forth baskets did not last much longer though as Berry began to pull away with eight points from Campbell in a short amount of time that lifted the Vikings up by 10 (30-20).

In the last three minutes of the second half, an 8-0 Berry run with paint points left Millsaps in the same Viking boat they were in last weekend, down 15, 35-20.

With 46 second half points and a huge Vikings defense, the Majors were intimidated as none of their players reached double-digits for the entire contest.

Continuing to build on their lead with six second half three's, two coming from Drew Winegarden and two more from Ryan Luttrell, Berry's offense took off. Again, an eight-to-nothing run early on diminished the confidence of the home team.

Winegarden's second three gave Berry the twenty-point advantage and they continued not to let up. Following the three, Benham notched seven of the twelve points in the 12-0 run to follow (55-26).

Halfway through the second half the score kept teetering between the 30-point mark until Canon Armstead's made free throw just under the six-minute mark defeated the twenties and soared the team into the thirty-point advantage range as they captured their eighth win in a row.

The Vikings will be back in action on the road for another pair of SAA games this Friday and Sunday at Rhodes and Hendrix.
