Johns Hopkins Downs Muhlenberg, 75-55

ALLENTOWN, PA – Four Blue Jays scored in double figures to lead the Johns Hopkins men's basketball team to a 75-55 win at Muhlenberg Saturday afternoon. JHU pushes its win streak to 10 as the Jays improve to 12-4 overall and 9-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Mules fall to 6-11 on the season and 5-5 in the conference.

Trailing 9-4 early, Hopkins used a methodical 24-5 run to turn that five-point deficit into a 14-point lead. Senior Will Sykes hit one of two from the line, followed by a Jeb Williams triple and a Charlie Jackson three-point play and the Blue Jays had their first lead of the game at 11-9 with 13:34 to play in the half. Jackson capped the run at the 4:11-mark with a bucket from downtown to put Hopkins up 28-14.

The Mules cut the deficit to 10 with four unanswered points from Brandon Goldberg. The Blue Jays answered with a 10-1 spurt that bridged halftime and put the visitors up 38-19. The teams traded buckets over the ensuing two and a half minutes and it was 49-33 JHU. Junior Brian Johansson hit a pair of free throws to spark a 7-0 run that gave Hopkins its biggest lead of the game, 56-33, with 13:32 to play. That would do it as Muhlenberg would get no closer than 17 over the remainder of the game.

Four Blue Jays scored in double figures, led by junior John Windley and freshman Brayden Fagbemi with 14 points apiece. Fagbemi also grabbed eight rebounds, while Windley pulled six boards and blocked a shot. Graduate student Sidney Thybulle and Sykes had nine rebounds each, as the Blue Jays dominated on the boards, 58-28. Jackson (12 points) and Williams (11 points) also finished in double figures. Goldberg led the Mules with 14 points and six rebounds while Luke Gordos added 11 points.

Hopkins is back on the road as the Blue Jays step out of conference play to take on Mary Washington on Monday, January 22. Tip-off at the Anderson Center is slated for 7:00 pm
