Men's Basketball Flies Past Eagles for ODAC Win

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's basketball team picked up its sixth straight win in a 76-52 ODAC game at Bridgewater College on Wednesday night.

The game was all Hornets (6-0, 1-0 ODAC), as they came out on fire by outscoring the Eagles (6-2, 2-1) by 31 points heading into the half. Jaylen Williams, with 19 total points, scored more points in the first 20 minutes than the opposition.

RECAP
It took less than five minutes for the Hornets to pick up a double-digit lead as they went on a 13-2 run to start the contest. Gavin Bizyak put the first points on the board for SU as Williams would then rattle off nine of the next eleven Shenandoah points.

Up by 14, Shenandoah was held from scoring for three minutes but that didn't slow them down as they'd come back and scored eight points in 67 seconds, extending the lead to 20.

Nic Pullum, who finished the night with 15 points, added an enthusiastic fastbreak dunk to put his team up 32-10. After a Davion Roberts free throw, Pullum scored on an and-one attempt to end the first with Shenandoah up 46-15.

Williams scored his final points of the night to start the half for SU with Evan Makle following that up with a jumper for two of his 14 points. As Bridgewater cut its deficit to 25, Shenandoah raised it back to 30 points with help from Binwi Bihai and Joseph Baldwin.

With 1:11 left in the game, the Hornets tallied their final basket of the night as Joshua Stephen hit a layup to put them back up 31.

The Hornets' defense stole the ball 10 times tonight with Malik Jordan, Bizyak, Makle, and Roberts all with two.

From the field, SU shot exactly 50% going 30 for 60 in the game.

This is the first time since the 2019-2020 season that Shenandoah has started conference play 1-0 and first win at Bridgewater since 2017.
