Men's Basketball Falls to St. Lawrence on the Road

Canton, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's basketball team falls to St. Lawrence. Franklin Infante (East Rockaway, N.Y. / East Rockaway) dropped 17 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists to lead the way for the Cardinals. Dylan Trombley (Moriah, N.Y. / Moriah) was right behind him with 15 points and four rebounds. 

There were also contributions from others as Kevin Tabb(Brooklyn, N.Y. / Thomas Jefferson) who had 13 points and helped on the defensive end with four steals. Jeremiah Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y. / East New York Family Academy) added nine points and Ikechukwu Ezike (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Paul Robeson) helped on the boards with five rebounds. 

For the Saints, Adam Dudzinski led all players with 27 points and contributed to rebounding with five. Gavin Macaulay also was a factor as he had 16 points and four rebounds. 

Plattsburgh shot 30.6% from the floor while St. Lawrence shot 54.5% from the floor.  

Plattsburgh falls to 0-3 and St. Lawrence rises to 2-0. Plattsburgh will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 18th against SUNY Cobleskill at 7 pm. St. Lawrence will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 17th in the Williams Purple & Gold Classic with a matchup against St. Joseph's Long Island at 8 pm. 

The Saints opened the scoring in the first half with nine straight points that consisted of a jumper from Andrew Cowan, a jumper from Dudzinski, a layup from Cowan, and a three from Macaulay to take a 9-0 lead. The Cardinals responded with a run of their own with a three from Infante, a jumper from Infante, and a three from Tim Thomas (Manhattan, N.Y. / Commonwealth Academy (Mass.)). After five minutes of play the Saints led 16-10. With over 12 minutes to play Tabb of the Cardinals tied the game 16-16 with a layup. Shortly after, Ezike gave the Cardinals their first lead with a dunk to make the score 18-16. 

The Saints and Cardinals traded buckets as Carter Storey scored on a jumper, Infante made a three, and Trey Syroka made a layup to make the score 21-20 Cardinals. Over 11 minutes to play the score was tied yet again after a jumper from Troy McPherson and a three from Infante to make the score 25-25. After a back-and-forth battle, the Saints went on a 9-0 run to take the lead 37-28. To end the half the Cardinals got points from multiple players, including a layup from Infante, a three from Infante, and two free throws from Tabb to make the score 50-36 Saints. 

After five minutes of play in the second half, the Cardinals were down 61-38 after Tabb made a jumper to score their first points of the half. With 13 minutes left, Trombley made a jumper to make the score 65-40. Shortly after, the Saints and Cardinals traded buckets with a jumper from Storey followed by a jumper from Tabb to make the score 67-43 Saints. With under 10 minutes to play the Saints and Cardinals traded threes that came from Dudzinski and Trombley to make the score 73-49 Saints. With just over eight minutes to play, the Cardinals scored back-to-back buckets with a jumper from Trombley and a three from Smith to make the score 76-54 Saints. 

The rest of the half saw points scored for the Cardinals from two free throws from Smith, a free throw from Ezike, a jumper from Ezike, a jumper from Trombley, a three from Matt Kone-Bradshaw (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Adams Street Academy), and a jumper from Smith. The Saints got points from multiple players including Dudzinski, Cowan, Syroka, Macaulay, and more to close the game out 90-66 Saints.
