Redlands Men's Basketball moves to 2-0 with a 34-point win over No. 20 East Texas Baptist

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands men's basketball team opened the season 2-0 following a 99-65 blowout win over No. 20 East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) on Sunday evening inside Currier Gym. The Bulldogs led by double digits for the final 26 minutes as four Bulldogs scored in double figures.

Redlands got off to a fast start, scoring the first six points of the game as Jhace Boston, Khyree Armstead, and Neil Owens all scored. After the Tigers pulled within two, the Bulldogs scored the next eight to take their first double-digit lead of the game, 14-4.

The Tigers cut it to a three possession game, but Boston hit a jumper in the paint and Robert Power was assisted by Cameron Brown on a pair of threes as their lead went back to double figures.

Boston and Brown each made threes within 36 seconds of each other as the lead went from four, 28-24, to 10, 34-24. An Owens layup off an assist from Sam Abere with six seconds left in the half gave the Bulldogs their largest lead of the game at 25.

Coming out of the half Owens made a free throw from a technical foul given to ETBU's head coach to end the first half as Redlands scored the first four points and led by 29, 56-27.

Down the stretch Josh Himel converted on two threes as the Bulldogs' lead was never fewer than 24 and was as large as 35.

Leading all scorers was Brown with 24 points (9-12 FG, 4-5 3FG) and he added five rebounds and four assists. Joining him in double figures was Power and Owens with 14 points apiece and Kendrick Currey with 11 points.

The Bulldogs will now prepare for a trip to Ohio where they will play two games at the Great Lakes Invitational, starting with No. 24 Middleburg College on Friday, November 17 at 2:00 p.m. pacific time.
