Kemp Leads Scots in Scoring for Second Consecutive Contest
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Maryville fell to host Rochester 87-66 on Day 2 of the Chuck Resler Tournament in Rochester, N.Y.
Maryville shot just 36.7 percent from the field while Rochester boasted a 48.3 percent mark, propped up by an impressive 60.7 percent in the second half.
For the second consecutive game, junior transfer Reed Kemp led Maryville in scoring, putting up 15 points. Kemp also tied for the team lead in steals with two.
Jackson Garner followed Kemp with 12 points of his own, shooting 4-of-8 from the field while sinking all three of his free throw attempts.
Chase Morgan led the Scots in rebounding, picking up eight boards in the contest. Before picking up his fifth foul, R.J. Simmons recorded six rebounds in 19 minutes of play.
Rochester finished the game with a 46-33 advantage in rebounding and scored 18 second-chance points to Maryville's eight.
Maryville returns to play in the state of Tennessee Wednesday night but not for a home game. The Scots will face off against in-state foe Sewanee on the road at 7 p.m. Central.
