WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The fourth seeded Chatham University Cougars rolled to a wire-to-wire victory over the top-seeded Washington & Jefferson men's basketball team Thursday evening in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals at Salvitti Family Gymnasium.

Kyran Mitchell (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) posted a team-high 22 points in his final game as a President. Mitchell became the 25th men's basketball player in program history and first since Mike Resnik (2011-15) to reach 1,000 points. Mitchell added five rebounds, four assists and two blocks in the loss.

Mitchell was the only President to score in double figures. Brandon Jakiela (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) added eight points and four rebounds off the bench.

Chatham led 42-21 at halftime after shooting 53.1 percent from the field over the first 20 minutes. W&J trailed by as many as 29 points in the second half.

The Presidents made just 33.3 percent of its field goals (22-66) and just one three-pointer in 20 attempts. W&J converted just 16-of-27 (59.3 percent) at the free throw line.

Chatham also out-rebounded W&J by a 48-36 margin. The Presidents were never able to get their full court press going mainly because they couldn't make shots on offense. Chatham committed just 11 turnovers on the night.

W&J finishes the season at 20-7 overall. It marked just the fourth 20-win season for W&J, who has won 20 games in back-to-back seasons.

Chatham advances to the PAC Championship game for the third time overall. They beat Westminster in 2018-19 final but dropped the title contest to W&J last season.
