Wolves Fall in Second Half at Alfred

ALFRED, N.Y. — After leading at halftime, the Keuka College Men's Basketball team was outscored 43-24 in the second half as the Wolves lost at Alfred University 80-63 in an Empire 8 Conference game.

Senior Devin Milton (Opelousas, La. / Beau Chene) led Keuka College (7-14, 3-13 Empire 8) with 28 points. Will Tehan (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) was also in double figures with 17 points.

Devin Milton accounted for the first 12 Keuka College points, shooting a perfect 5-5 from the floor with a pair of threes including a four-point play. His final jumper in the run cut the Alfred lead to 16-12. The Saxons followed with a three, but then Milton set up Will Tehan for a three to cut the margin back to four. The three started a run for Tehan as he scored the next seven points in the game to tie the matchup up at 19-19. The Wolves would then take the lead. The advantage went back and forth between the two teams. Both teams would lead by four points over the final minutes of the half. Alijah Ellis (Portsmouth, Va. / Indian River / Fork Union Military Academy) took an outlet pass from Jaden Keasey (Newport News, Va. / Menchville) and scored a layup in the final minute to give the Wolves a 39-37 halftime advantage.

Again, both teams held the lead early in the second half. After Alfred took the lead, Ellis gave it back to Keuka, and then Lorenzo Bicknese (Somers, N.Y. / Somers) drained a three to give the Wolves a 46-42 lead. The Wolves held the lead until 10:24 left to play when an Alfred three gave them a 52-51 edge. The Saxons pulled away from there. Over the final ten minutes, Alfred outscored the Wolves 28-12 as the Saxons defeated the Wolves 80-63 on Saturday.

  • Keuka College is now 8-18 all-time against Alfred University. They have lost their last eight games played at Alfred
  • Devin Milton passed Casey Williams '16 for sixth on the career scoring list at Keuka College
  • Jaden Keasey led the Wolves in rebounding with seven and had a career-high three blocks against the Saxons
  • Devin Milton hit three threes in the game, giving him 50 on the year and 127 in his career. Milton is now tied for ninth on the single-season list and moves to sixth on the career list

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves were eliminated from playoff contention with their results from this weekend. Keuka College will close out the season at home next weekend. The Wolves host the Highlanders of Houghton University on Friday night. Keuka College will then have its Senior Day and season finale on Saturday afternoon as they host Medaille University at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
