MBB: Thomas snags six steals in setback to Southern Maine

 

PLYMOUTH, N.H. The Plymouth State University men's basketball team fell to the University of Southern Maine, 75-62, in a Little East Conference (LEC) game at Foley Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

The Panthers were unable to keep pace with a Southern Maine squad that shot nearly 50% for the contest. The Huskies have now won four straight LEC games.

Junior Kyler Bosse (Manchester, N.H.) led the Panthers with 18 points, while senior Ty Thomas (Manchester, N.H.) scored 13 points and came away with six steals. Junior Christian Barr (Henniker, N.H.) and sophomore Elijah Swanson (Meredith, N.H.) combined for 17 points to round out the top scorers in the losing effort.

Plymouth State falls to 9-14 (2-12 LEC) on the season, while the Huskies improve to 14-8 and 8-5 in LEC play.

  • The Panthers started the second half slowly as USM used an 11-2 run to go up 48-31 with 14:04 left in the contest.
  • The visitors extended the lead to 60-40 with 7:37 to play.
  • Plymouth State scored seven straight points to cut the deficit to 65-53 with 2:31 left.
  • The Huskies knocked down free throws to keep PSU's late press at bay.
