AMHERST, Mass. – The Connecticut College men's basketball team earned its first NESCAC road win of the season on Friday, besting Amherst College by a 65-57 final at LeFrak Gymnasium.

The Camels, who picked up their first victory at Amherst since 1999, improved to 13-8 overall and 4-3 in league action. David Murray (Jackson Heights, N.Y.) led all scorers with 17 points and added six rebounds and four steals. Jarron Flynn (Roslindale, Mass.), Cam Schainfeld (Newton, Mass.) and Andrew Hartel (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) chipped in 11 points apiece.

Conn took control early behind a 15-2 burst and played from in front the rest of the way. Flynn sparked the run with a jumper that tied the game at 10-10, and he bookended the stretch with a layup that put the Camels up 23-12 with 10:50 remaining in the half.

The Mammoths had no answer for Murray in the stanza. He shot 7-for-12 from the floor and netted 14 points as the Camels took a 37-29 advantage into the break.

The Camels pushed the margin to double digits in the early stages of the second half but suffered a seven-minute scoring drought that allowed Amherst back in the game. The Mammoths scored eight straight points to creep within four, but Conn righted the ship with a 12-2 run that made it 56-42 with 4:55 to go.

Canin Reynolds paced Amherst with 13 points and was the only Mammoth in double figures.
