Strong Start Fuels Another Nazareth Men’s Basketball Win

ROCHESTER, NY – The final result never seemed to be in doubt Saturday afternoon as the Nazareth Men's Basketball team opened an early lead and cruised to an 89-56 win over Hartwick in Empire 8 action at Kidera Gymnasium.

The Golden Flyers (13-2 overall, 7-1 E8), ranked #25 in the latest d3hoops.com national poll, jumped out to an early 10-0 lead and held a 16-point edge at 22-6 eight minutes into the contest.

Nazareth led 40-19 at the break and used an early 10-2 run in the second half to open a 24-point lead at 50-26 on a basket by graduate student Jonathan Park. Park finished with another double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Senior Logan Blankenberg scored 15 of his game-high 20 points in the first half as he reached his career-high for points in consecutive games.

Freshman Solomon McFarlane came off the bench to score 14 points and fellow freshman Jaylen Savage added 10 points. Graduate student Zach Stenglein scored eight points and handed out a team-leading six assists while sophomore Jack Broderick chipped in nine points.

Nazareth has won 10 of the last 11 games and will face St. John Fisher Tuesday night at St. John Fisher in the first of two regular-season matchups with the Cardinals.
