William Paterson Men's Basketball Falls to First-Place Rowan

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (9-9, 3-8 NJAC) fell behind early and were unable to overcome the deficit in a 94-78 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) home loss to Rowan (15-3, 11-0 NJAC) on Jan. 21 at the Sports and Recreation Center.


HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • With 6:16 remaining in the first half, Rowan went on a 12-0 run to grab a 45-28 lead.
  • The Profs maintained their double-digit advantage until sophomore Neftali Valentin buried a 3-pointer with 15:31 on the clock in the second half to trim the deficit to nine (55-46). However, Rowan built the lead back to double figures and closed out the game to earn the road victory.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Junior Caesar Silvestro scored a career-high 24 points to pair with a career-best nine rebounds.
  • It marked the first 20-point performance in his career.
  • Junior Shawn Summers Jr. shot 6-of-8 (.750) from the floor with two makes from deep for 16 points to go along with eight rebounds.
  • Valentin logged 14 points in the scoring column.
