ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Miles Mallory (Beltsville, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti), the reigning ODAC Player of the Week, recorded his eighth double-double of the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds while tying the ODAC record for career blocked shots with 236 as the second-ranked Randolph-Macon men's basketball team defeated Bridgewater 62-41 in ODAC action on Wednesday evening.

How it Happened:

  • Junior Will Coble (Charlotte, N.C./Davidson Day) nailed a three-pointer on the first possession of the game for the Yellow Jackets and a layup by freshman Keishawn Pulley Jr. (Louisa, Va./St. Christopher's) gave R-MC an 11-3 advantage six minutes into the contest. The Eagles cut the deficit to three at 15-12 before a follow by Mallory, a triple by Coble and a layup by senior Josh Talbert (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) gave the Yellow Jackets a 22-12 lead with 7:30 left in the first half. BC narrowed the gap to three before treys by sophomore Vincent Payne (Frederick, Md./St. Maria Goretti) and Coble made it 33-24 with 55 seconds remaining. The Eagles had the final bucket of the period to trail 33-26 at the break. Coble had nine points, while Mallory had six points and seven boards.
  • Mallory scored on a layup and Talbert had a pair of baskets in the paint to give the home team a 13-point lead at 39-26 two minutes into the second half. Three Talbert layups and a free throw by Mallory gave the Yellow Jackets a 19-point advantage at 46-27 with 14:25 remaining. The Eagles would close within 11 at 50-39 before a three-pointer by freshman Jabril Robinson (Darwood, Md./South Kent Prep) sparked a 12-2 spurt over the final 6:25 as R-MC posted the 62-41 victory.

  • The Yellow Jacket defense held BC to 15 points in the second half. The Eagles matched their season low with 41 points.
  • R-MC had a 36-14 advantage on points in the paint and 17-2 on points off turnovers.
  • R-MC had two players score in double figures. Talbert matched Mallory's total with 18 points.
  • Mallory has 1,283 career points, placing him 24th on R-MC's career scoring list. He is one point behind Paul Feeley (1973-75).
  • Talbert has 1,075 career points, standing in 38th on R-MC's career scoring list.
  • Robinson matched his season high with eight assists.
  • R-MC had a 46-33 edge on the glass. Along with 12 by Mallory, junior Daniel Mbangue (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) grabbed seven.
  • Mallory has 738 career rebounds, the ninth-highest total in program history.
  • Mallory had four blocked shots. He has 236 career blocks, a program record and tying Ben Strong of Guilford (2004-08) for the ODAC career mark.

For the Record:

  • R-MC extended its home win streak to 58 games, a program record and the longest current streak in Division III. The Division III record is 62, set by North Park from 1984-1988.
  • The Yellow Jackets extended their win streak to 14 games.
  • R-MC has won 13 straight games against Bridgewater.
