HIRAM, Ohio – January 11, 2023 – Hiram was unable to dig itself out of another early hole on Wednesday, losing 83-67 to Wabash at Price Gymnasium.

The Terriers fell behind 9-0 and trailed by double-digits early in the first half. Taylor Roth's team fought back and pulled within 9 points in the second half, but the comeback wasn't enough in the NCAC affair.

Trent Jakacki led the way with 18 points, while Dushawn Hill chipped in 14 points off the bench. Kevin Beans Jr. also filled the stat sheet for 10 points, 9 rebounds (tied season-high) and 3 assists.

Hiram's bench had an impactful evening by outscoring its opposition, 33-23. The team moves to 8-7, 3-4 NCAC on the season with 9 conference games remaining on its schedule.

Vinny Bucilla scored Wabash's first 7 points of the game and finished the first half in double-digits. Ahmoni Jones added 8 points of his own in the period to put Hiram at a 16-point deficit (42-26) at halftime.

Some resilient play got the Terriers back on track in the second half.

Hiram started the second period on a 9-3 run to pull within 10 points. Jakacki made a pair of layups and Beans Jr. nailed a three-pointer to highlight the promising rally.

Another 10-3 run later in the period cut the deficit to 72-63, capped off by a Beans Jr. layup. The Terriers were effective in getting to the basket and drawing contact; they shot 9-14 from the free-throw line in the second half alone.

Wabash's three-point shooting proved to be the difference, though, with Jones knocking down a critical three-pointer to regain the double-digit advantage. The Little Giants were able to withstand Hiram's defensive pressure and hold on for the victory in the final minutes of the game.

The Terriers will look to even their conference record on Saturday against Denison at Price Gymnasium (approximate 4:15 p.m. start time). They will follow the women's game that starts at 2 p.m.
