Walsh leads Mustangs to Victory Over Lebanon Valley 79-74

Owings Mills, Md. – Graduate student guard Connor Walshsinks 19 points to give Stevenson their first victory of 2023.
 
First Half
 
Walsh kicked off the scoring for the Mustangs with an early three, followed by a layup from sophomore forward Nate Arrington for a 5-0 lead. Three minutes later, the Dutchmen tied the game at 8-8 before Stevenson went on to score 12 straight points. At 10:38, Lebanon Valley's Payton Lewis brought his team to within one, down 24-23. The first lead of the night for the Dutchmen came with 3:53 remaining, but back-to-back threes from Walsh sent the Mustangs to the locker room with a 45-41 lead.

Second Half
 
The teams traded points early in the second half before Stevenson called a timeout at 16:58. A Walsh steal sent senior guard KJ Holton in for an easy layup to give the Mustangs an 11-point lead. At the midway point of the half, Dutchmen Payton brought his team to within one point once again, down 64-63. Although Lebanon Valley came within three with two minutes remaining, SU  graduate student guard McKale Williams sank two free throws to secure Stevenson's second conference win.

Following the victory, the Mustangs improve to 8-5 (2-2 in the MACC). They will next take on Albright College at home on Saturday, Jan. 7 with a 1 p.m. tip-off. Lebanon Valley falls to 4-9 (2-2 MACC) and will return home to host AlverniaUniversity on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 1 p.m.
