HIRAM, Ohio – December 30, 2022 – Hiram showed no signs of rust in its return from a two-week hiatus, leading for the entirety of the game in an 87-68 victory over Adrian on Friday at Price Gymnasium.

The Terriers scored the first 7 points of the game and wouldn't look back in their first game since Dec. 16 against Hilbert. They improved to 6-0 at home and 8-4 overall on the season. Head coach Taylor Roth and company have now won 10 of their last 11 home games dating back to last season.

It was one of the team's most balanced scoring efforts of the year, with three starters and two reserves all scoring at least 12 points. Sophomore Trent Jakacki led the way with a game-high 18 points, while Kevin Beans Jr. and Brodgie Gordon chipped in 16 and 15 points respectively. Dushawn Hill had 13 points and Doug Sartain had 12 points off the bench.

Jakacki has now scored in double-figures in 10 of his 12 games with the program. Hill's 75% FG pct in the game (6-8) was his highest in any collegiate game of his young career.

Hiram was on pace for triple-digits at the end of the first half, scoring 50 points on 61.3% (19-31) shooting from the field and 53.9% (7-13) shooting from beyond the arc. The lead grew to 14 points (39-25) when Jakacki scored 7 consecutive points for the team.

Hill would follow with 7 straight points of his own to eventually give the Terriers an advantage as large as 19 points. Hill, Jakacki and Gordon combined for 29 of the team's 50 points in the opening half.

Adrian would hang tough thanks to an 8-0 run to begin the second half, spearheaded by De'Ovion Price driving to the basket on numerous drives. Price would score 10 of his 13 points in the final 20 minutes.

The Terriers returned to form with a 13-0 run in the later stages of the half, capped off by a three-pointer from Sartain on the fastbreak with 4:06 to play. The lead ballooned out to 79-58 and the margin would remain in double-digits for the rest of the game.
