William Paterson Men's Basketball Topped on Road at Stockton

GALLOWAY, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (4-5, 1-4 NJAC) fell 76-63 to Stockton (8-1, 4-1 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Dec. 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Pioneers held a five-point advantage (26-21) after sophomore Neftali Valentin buried a 3-pointer with 6:28 remaining in the first half. However, the Ospreys closed out the final 5:36 of the stanza on a 16-2 run to take a nine-point (37-28) lead into the break.
  • William Paterson climbed back and cut the deficit to one (48-47) with 13:13 on the clock in the second half, but Stockton responded with a 17-4 run to build a double-digit lead before securing the win.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Junior Shawn Summers Jr. paced the Pioneers with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting (.667) to pair with a team-high seven boards.
  • Senior Adryan Lopez added nine points in the scoring column.
  • Senior Michael Gilmore posted an eight-point outing with five rebounds and three assists.

  • The Pioneers will return to the Sports and Recreation Center on Wednesday, Dec. 14, to square off against Merchant Marine Academy at 7:30 p.m.
