Clark Scores Game-High 21 Points, But Gwynedd Loses Battle of the Griffins

Philadelphia, Pa. - (12/7/2022) - Junior guard Manny Clark (Pottsgrove, Pa.) scored a game-high 19 points, but Gwynedd Mercy University (2-6) lost tonight's Battle of the Griffins to Chestnut Hill College (3-7) by a 67-52 margin. Clark hit 8-of-17 (.471) from the floor and also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds to keep Gwynedd Mercy University competitive against their National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II opponent.

Griffin Highlights

  • Gwynedd Mercy University took a 14-4 (14:09) lead in the first six minutes of the affair, but were outscored 33-16 during the remainder of the first half (37-30).
  • The Griffins closed the gap to as few as two points, 38-36 (16:47), early in the second half. Unfortunately, Chestnut Hill College closed the contest with another lop-sided stretch; 29-16.
  • Gwynedd Mercy University forced 16 Chestnut Hill College turnovers without recording a steal.
  • Six Griffins recorded at least one assist.
  • Clark's double-digit game was his eighth straight to start the season. He has been the Griffins' leading rebounder, or shared the team lead in rebounds, in six of those contests.
  • Sophomore forward Dom Thomas (Mullica Hill, N.J.) was also a solid contributor with six points, five rebounds, and two assists.

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to action on Monday, December 12, when they host Cairn University in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
