ONEONTA, N.Y. - Despite the ninth double-double of Erik Salo's (Delmar, N.Y.) career and a hot shooting night from the team, the Plattsburgh State men's basketball team fell to Oneonta State in road State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action. The team hit a season-best 10 three-pointers but couldn't overcome 20 turnovers en route to their second conference loss of the season.

Salo had a fantastic night for Plattsburgh, going 7-9 from the field for 18 points while adding 10 rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. Sheriff Conteh (Bronx, N.Y./Our Saviour Lutheran) scored 16 points for the Cards, as the senior hit a career-best four three-pointers on five attempts, and Kevin Tabb (Brooklyn, N.Y./Thomas Jefferson) added 13 points in the losing effort. Michael Ortale had a game-high 21 points for the Red Dragons, also adding eight boards, while Joseph Bull had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Plattsburgh outshot Oneonta for the game, shooting 48% from the field and 53% from three for one of the team's best shooting nights so far this season. However, the team nearly matched their season-high turnover mark for a single game, giving up the ball 20 times, which Oneonta turned into 27 points. The Red Dragons shot 45% from the field but were only 4-13 (31%) from deep. Oneonta also controlled the glass throughout, outrebounding Plattsburgh 42-31 while picking up 26-second chance points.

The Cardinals now move to 3-4 overall with the loss and 0-2 in SUNAYC play. The team will take on New Paltz tomorrow, Dec. 3, who beat Oneonta earlier this week and took down Potsdam on Friday night. Oneonta now sits at 5-1 overall and 1-1 in conference action as they will play Potsdam on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Plattsburgh got off to an extremely slow start in this one, as the Red Dragons jumped out to an early 12-0 lead, in an eerily similar fashion to Tuesday's loss to Potsdam. However, tonight the Cards were able to claw their way back in the game, withstanding two strong Oneonta runs to head into the break trailing by just five, as Conteh knocked down a three just before the end of the half to make the score 42-37.

The second half once again looked to be leaning the way of Oneonta early, but Plattsburgh was able to claw their way back into the game once more, with strong shooting. After going down 58-51 with 12:26 to go, the Cards rattled off an 11-3 run, taking a 62-61 lead as a Tabb three capped the team's run. The lead would be the Cards only of the half, however, as they continued to battle with the Red Dragons. After a Salo layup made the score 69-67 Oneonta at the 4:11 mark, the Red Dragons finished the game on a 14 -5 run to win by double-digits over Plattsburgh.

Franklin Infante (East Rockway, N.Y./East Rockway) continued his strong season with an eight-point performance on Friday night, as he knocked down both of his three-point attempts, committing no turnovers and picking up four assists. For the season, the sophomore point guard is shooting 8-12 from deep and has 18 assists to just six turnovers.
