GEORGETOWN, TEXAS – It took every bit of a 56-point second half for Southwestern University to turn aside a red-hot shooting McMurry University squad Saturday, Nov. 26.

Head coach Zach Pickelman's War Hawks battled throughout the 40 minutes with the Pirates inside the Robertson Center, with the final decision hanging in the balance until the hosts peeled off on A 10-1 over the last 1:30 to earn an 89-85 nonconference triumph. A seven-of-seven effort at the charity stripe aided Southwestern.

Guiding McMurry was a memorable performance by junior guard C.J. LeBlanc (Dallas, Texas). He drained a single-game school record 11 three-pointers during a single-game school record 18 attempts while posting 44 points, his second career 40-point-plus outing and tying the second-most points in a game for the Maroon, Black, and White. He also topped the steals category (three). LeBlanc's long-range prowess was part of a team single-game program record 17 made three-pointers.

Center Elias Garcia (Dallas, Texas), another member of McMurry's Class of 2024, was only two rebounds short of a double-double. A perfect four-for-four from the field, including hitting both of his three-point attempts, Garcia turned in a 14-point, eight-rebound afternoon. Elias and LeBlanc were part of an overall 52.6 percent and 53.1 percent three-point day for the visitors.

Pickelman's crew returns home to begin American Southwest Conference action Thursday, Dec. 1. Game time versus East Texas Baptist is 7:30 p.m.
