COBLESKILL, N.Y. - Sophomore guard Kevin Tabb (Brooklyn, N.Y./Thomas Jefferson) knocked down a three-pointer with five seconds left in overtime to give the Plattsburgh State men's basketball team a win on the road versus SUNY Cobleskill. Tabb had a season-high 24 points and upped his season-scoring average to 19.3 points.

Erik Salo (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) had his second double-double of the year with 15 points, 12 boards, and five assists, including the assist on the game-winner. Willard Anderson Jr. (Buffalo, N.Y./East) had a season-high 13 points and four rebounds off the bench and Sheriff Conteh (Bronx, N.Y./Our Saviour Lutheran) added 10 points for the Cards. Andre Starks had a team-high 23 points for the Fighting Tigers and Justin Feldman added 16 for Cobleskill in the loss.

Each team shot the ball extremely well on Saturday, with the Cards shooting exactly 50% from the floor, making 33 of 66 shots. Cobleskill shot 48.6% from the floor, but struggled from three (26.3%) and the line (52.4%), only making 11 of 21 free throws. Plattsburgh also had its struggles from the charity stripe, making just 15 of 32 attempts (46.9%).

Plattsburgh improves to 2-2 with the win and will next travel to Skidmore on Tuesday, Nov. 22 for a non-conference matchup. Cobleskill falls to 4-2 with the loss and will take on Hunter College on Tuesday, Nov. 22 for their next game.

In what was a close affair in an offensive show, the first half seemed to be tilting the way of Cobleskill as the teams neared its conclusion. A three-pointer from Feldman put the Fighting Tigers up eight, but a quick 7-0 run capped by an Anderson three put the team right back into the game. Five points all from Sasha Vidrini (Trieste, Italy/Liceo Rogazionisti) to end the half put the Cards down 43-42 heading into the break.

In the second half, Cobleskill once again opened up a multiple-possession lead, leading by as much as nine points, but Plattsburgh was able to claw their way back into the game. A 12-2 run put the team up a point for only their second lead of the second half with 7:23 left in the period.

Trailing by three with under two and a half minutes to go, Tabb had a fastbreak laying to put his team down one, and after forcing a miss, Salo had a put-back lay-in after an Anderson miss to give the Cards the lead. Trailing by two with under 25 seconds to go, Cobleskill got the game-tying shot to go from Starks with seven seconds left to tie the game. A Plattsburgh three at the buzzer was well short, sending the game into overtime.

At the outset of overtime, Conteh knocked down a three to give the Cards the lead at the start of the extra period. Layups from Salo and Anderson extended the team's lead to five and then a Tabb three put the Cards up eight points with a quick 10-2 to start overtime. After four points from Cobleskill, Tabb had another lay-in to put his team up six with 1:14 to go.

However, the Fighting Tigers got five quick points to pull within one with 37 seconds left, and after a missed Plattsburgh three, Starks was fouled and split his trip at the line to tie the game with 15 seconds to go. Burning two timeouts with 10 seconds left, the Cards got a great play from their senior forward Salo, who drove the lane and kicked to Tabb in the corner, who knocked down the game-winning three. Plattsburgh smartly fouled Cobleskill in the backcourt, to not allow them to attempt a game tying-three and the Cards were able to come away with the victory after the second Fighting Tiger free throw went out of bounds.
