WORCESTER -- Donovan Sevilla (San Ramon, CA) netted nine of his 21 points during an early 21-0 run as nationally-ranked WPI held visiting UMaine Farmington scoreless for over 10 minutes en route to a 67-46 victory over Beavers in a non-conference men's basketball matchup played Friday evening in Harrington Auditorium. 

The Engineers, ranked eighth in the preseason D3hoops.com Top 25, are now 3-0 on the young season while UMF sees its record even at 1-1. 

The visiting Beavers opened the game with a defensive stop and a Kyle Donlin (Warren, MA) layup 25 seconds into the contest, but the Engineers defense flexed their muscles over the next 10:01, forcing the visitors into misfiring on their next 14 shots from floor, including six 3-point attempts, and causing eight turnovers.  Sevilla drained 4-of-5 shots from the field during the spurt, including canning a 3-pointer. 

The guests would not go away easily, scoring 13 of the next 14 points from the field to cut the deficit back to single digits at 22-15 but 10 straight points by Andrew Lufkin (Auburn, NH) late in the first stanza pushed the Crimson and Gray's advantage to 16 at 35-19 at the break and the advantage never dwindled to single digits.     

John Adams (Douglas, MA) came out of the halftime break on fire, with six points in the first three minutes.  The junior netted 10 of his 12 points and after intermission and finished with eight rebounds.   Fellow preseason All-America John Lowther (Hingham, MA) recorded a double-double in the process notching 15 points and 10 boards along with a pair of blocks.  Lufkin joined Lowther with 15 points and doled out five assists and Sevilla netted 13 points and hauled in five rebounds. 

Preseason All-America Terion Moss (Portland, ME) and Donlin each recorded double-digit points for UMaine Farmington with 14 and 13 respectively and both allied  
seven boards apiece. 

The Engineers shot 43.8% percent on the night with 29.2% percent being from behind the arc. The hosts accounted for 27 points off of turnovers as well as 30 points inside the paint.  The visitors shot 32.7% percent from the field with 35.0% percent of made three-pointers. UMaine Farmington amassed four blocks in the game while its bench added 12 points. 

Both teams have their next games later this weekend at Emmanuel.  UMaine Farmington tangles with the Saints Saturday at 6pm while WPI makes its way to the Fenway section of Boston for a 5pm contest on Sunday.
