NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The visiting Adrian College Bulldogs were able to make a basket with 4 seconds left in regulation to secure a narrow 66-67 victory over Manchester on Saturday, November 12th.
Both teams put up a hard-fought battle in Saturday's non-conference matchup; however, Nick Seifert's basket at the end of regulation was able to seal the victory for the Bulldogs.
The Spartans shot 40.3% (27-67) from the field and 71.4% from the free throw line Saturday afternoon. The Spartans knocked down 7 three-pointers and had 32 points in the paint.
Logan Willoughby (Greenwood, Ind., Whiteland Community) finished the night with his first career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Black and Gold, and a career high 6 assists. Sophomore guard Bryant Smith (West Lafayette, Ind., Harrison) led the Spartans with 21 points while Mitch Mendenhall (New Haven, Ind., Woodlan) chipped in 9 points and 5 rebounds.
Adrian finished shooting 44.3% during Saturday's contest. The Bulldogs were led by Victor Sheffey with 18 points. Nick Seifert finished the day with a double-double after putting up 17 points and 12 rebounds for Adrian.
The Spartans fall to 0-2 on the season and will head to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Monday, November 14th to compete against Purdue Fort Wayne in an exhibition game. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. In their last exhibition matchup, PFW was able to outlast the Spartans 91-80 on November 7, 2019.
