The Baruch College Bearcats defeated the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College, 79-59, in a CUNYAC home contest on Wednesday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats took control early jumping out to a 17-5 lead and went into the break up 35-28.

The Bulldogs scored seven of the first nine points to get as close as 37-35 within the first two minutes of the second half, but the two-point close contest disappeared quickly as the Bearcats went on a 25-10 run to lead 62-45 with 10:24 left.

They never took their foot off the gas pedal and grew the lead to 75-55 late to raise their record to 2-0 in the early season conference standings.

The Bearcats nailed 5-of-11 threes in the second half and used solid defense to limit the visiting Bulldogs to 37 percent shooting, including just 2-of-9 from three in that second half, to walk off with the home win.

Adnan Bajrami and Emil Purisic scored 16 points each. Purisic also grabbed 14 rebounds to record his third straight double-double.

Liam Sanborn tallied 14 points and Jehmehl Fair had 11 points with five rebounds.

Elisha Park led the Bulldogs with 15 points.
