After falling behind 2-0, the Spartans went on an 11-0 run over the next two minutes of the game, taking an 11-2 lead on a three-pointer by senior Robert Faller. A 12-2 run later in the half, capped off by a three by sophomore Daniel Florey with 11:53 to play, put CWRU in front 27-10 with 11:53 to play in the period. The Spartans led by as many as 23 points in the first half, taking a 44-21 lead on a three by first-year Umar Rashid with 6:19 to play in the period, and led by 19, 55-36, going into halftime.

CWRU maintained a double-digit lead for the entire second half, as Hilbert could cut the lead any closer than 13 points. A jumper by first-year Luke Gensler put CWRU ahead by a game-high 30, 94-64, with 5:51 to play, as the Spartans went on to secure the 22-point victory.

Case Western Reserve will now turn its attention towards University Athletic Association play. The Spartans will open up their conference schedule on Saturday, January 8, when the team travels to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to face Carnegie Mellon University. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
