Wolves Fall at Division I Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Basketball team lost 122-64 on the road at Division I Cornell University on Sunday afternoon.

Keuka College (0-8) was led by Mason VanDeMortel (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) with 21 points. Devin Milton (Opelousas, La. / Beau Chene) was also in double figures for the Wolves, scoring 15 in the loss.

Devin Milton drilled an opening three and that kicked off a strong start for Keuka College as the Wolves added threes by Mason VanDeMortel and Nana Oteng (Queens, N.Y. / Martin Luther) as the Wolves led 11-10 at the first media timeout. The Wolves opened the game 7-10 from three-point territory. The Big Red took the lead back, but the Wolves stayed within reach. A triple from Nana Oteng made it 24-23 in favor of the hosts with 12 minutes left in the opening half. After the game was tied at 26-26, the Big Red scored eight unanswered to open a lead over the Wolves. A three by Milton snapped the run, but Cornell responded with a run of 19, holding the Wolves off the board for nearly five minutes as the Big Red built a 53-29 advantage. Keuka College trailed 65-38 at the half.

The Wolves attempted to stay in the game, but the Big Red pulled away in the second half. The Wolves did not hit a three in the first five minutes of the second as Cornell pushed their lead to 78-46. A stretch of 32-9 for Cornell put the game out of reach for the Wolves. Mason VanDeMortel knocked in a three for Keuka with 7:04 left to make it 110-58. It was Keuka's first three of the second half as the Wolves missed their first 12 attempts. The Big Red would continue on to the 122-64 victory over the Wolves.

  • Keuka is now 0-3 against Division I opponents. It was the second time that the Wolves have played Cornell University
  • Mason VanDeMortel tied his career-high with seven three-pointers made. It was the second time this season he hit that mark, which ties for second-most in program history
  • DJ Billings (Rochester, N.Y. / Greece Odyssey) led the Wolves with five assists
  • The Wolves finished 13-45 from three while the Big Red went 14-32
  • Cornell tied for the most points scored against the Wolves in program history

Up Next for Keuka College: Sunday's game ends the fall portion of the schedule for Keuka College. The Wolves return to action following the holiday break on Tuesday, January 4. Keuka College will travel south to face Elmira College in their first Empire 8 Conference game of the season.
