Men's Basketball falls to Nationally Ranked WashU

Blackburn College Men's Basketball team suffered a loss to Washington (Mo). The final score of the game was 90-59 on Saturday, November 20th. 


The Beavers hosted their second home game of the season against nationally-ranked Washington. The Beavers started the game hot, Eliot Harrison had a putback layup to expand the Beaver's lead to seven at the midway mark through the first half. That would be the largest lead of the game for the Beavers as the Bears would catch fire from deep. After a three from Jack Nolan, Washington would take a 13 point lead at the three-minute mark of the first. The teams would trade a few baskets in the last minutes and the Bears would go into the half with a 44-30 lead. Jarrius Burnett led the Beavers with 11 points in the first half. 


The second half is where the Bears would take control of the game. Washington was scorching hot from three and would go on a 30-6 point differential midway through the second period. Bryson Kirby would not let the Beavers go down without a fight as he hit a couple of threes and a layup to lead the Beavers in the second half. After a few late buckets from Kirby, the game would end with a score of 90-59. 


Izayah Talmadge and Jarrius Burnett would lead Blackburn in scoring with 11 points each. Eliot Harrison would add five rebounds to lead the Beavers and also added a block as well. Kirby contributed with ten points, grabbing four rebounds, and a steal. Washington shot 52% from the field and a scorching hot 47% from beyond the arc. The Beavers would shoot 39% from the field while shooting 26% from three. 


Blackburn falls to 1-6 early in the season as they will look to get back on track at home Saturday, December 11th against Loras.
