• The Short Story: The 14th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's basketball team led wire-to-wire in a 70-49 win over host York Wednesday night in non-conference action.
 
How it Happened
• Hopkins jumped out to an 8-0 lead, fueled by a pair of Ethan Bartlett three-pointers, in the game's opening two and a half minutes. York answered with a Logan Collins layup and a Travis Stoll triple to pull within three. Junior Tom Quarry then drained a bucket from downtown at the 15:25-mark to spark a quick 7-0 Blue Jay run that pushed their lead to double digits less than two minutes later.
• Riley Dobraniecki then sandwiched a pair of layups around a Travis Stoll steal and score and just like that the lead was back to four with 12:27 to play in the first. The teams traded buckets over the ensuing nine minutes and Hopkins led 24-21.
• Junior Conor Gibson drained a three-pointer with 3:01 to play to ignite a 7-1 run that saw the Blue Jays take a 31-22 lead into the lockerroom.
• Coming out of the half, David Giuliani scored six straight for the Spartans, sandwiched around a three-point play by graduate student Conner Delaney, and it was 34-28 Hopkins with 16:57 to play. Senior Chid Nnake converted a pair of free throws, followed by a Lincoln Yeutter bucket in the paint to kick start a methodical 23-7 run that pushed the Blue Jays' lead to 22 with 7:48 on the clock. Seven Blue Jays scored during the run, led by Nnake and Yeutter with a combined 11 points. Hopkins lead would grow to as much as 26 in the final six minutes and would never dip below 20.  
 
What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 3-6 all-time against York and has won the last two meetings. This it he Blue Jays' largest margin of victory in the series.
• This was the 999th win in program history. JHU is 999-1025-1 (.493) since the program's inception in 1919-20.  
 
Inside the Box Score
• Delaney led the Blue Jays with 17 points to go with three assists and a steal. Quarry also finished in double figures, scoring 10 points and grabbing four rebounds.
• Thybulle finished with a career-best 10 rebounds while Bartlett had eight boards and eight points.
• Hopkins shot 60.87 percent from the field in the second half, while holding York to 30.43 in the half and 32.7 percent for the game. The 49 points were the fewest by the Spartans since February 1, 2016.
• Giuliani was the only Spartan to finish in double figures as he scored a game-high 19 points to go with seven boards.
