HAMBURG, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Basketball team lost their opening game of the 2021 Hawks Against Hunger Tip-off Tournament at Hilbert College. The Green and Gold lost to John Carroll University 109-96 on Friday night.

Freshmen Kobe Schriver (Hooper, Utah / Roy) and Will Tehan (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) led Keuka College (0-2) with 14 points apiece. Jahmr Jordan (Albany, N.Y. / Albany) added 13 points and Devin Milton (Opelousas, La. / Beau Chene) finished with 11 for the Wolves.

John Carroll University 109 vs. Keuka College 96

Both teams came out firing from deep. Off the opening tip, John Carroll hit a three, but Kobe Schriver responded with a deep three of his own. The Blue Streaks responded with another three that sparked a 9-0 run to build a 12-3 lead over the Wolves. The Green and Gold cut into the margin. Keuka's fast-paced offense caught John Carroll up the floor and the Wolves cut into the lead from the free-throw line. The margin got cut down to five at 22-17 with 12 minutes left in the first. The Blue Streaks pushed their lead back out, but the Wolves did not go away. Keuka College cut the lead down to four, 48-44, with four minutes left on a three by Will Tehan. However, John Carroll answered and outscored the Wolves 17-8 over the final stretch to lead 65-52 at the half.

The Blue Streaks maintained their double-digit lead in the second half. The Wolves cut it to nine, 83-74, midway through the frame as Daniel Obunse (Queens, N.Y. / Flushing) made a driving layup for Keuka. John Carroll had an answer for every time the Wolves cut it to single digits. The Blue Streaks did most of their damage from three as they were 20-45 from deep. John Carroll would go on to defeat Keuka College 109-96.

  • Friday was the first-ever meeting on the hardwood between the Wolves and John Carroll. The Blue Streaks are the 126th different opponent Keuka has faced in their 37 years of men's basketball
  • The Wolves are now 0-5 all-time in the Hawks Against Hunger Tipoff Tournament. Keuka College played in the first two editions of the tournament in 2010 and 2011
  • Jahmr Jordan went a perfect 10-10 from the free-throw line on Friday. He becomes the 12th different player to go perfect from the stripe with at least eight attempts
  • Will Tehan set a career-high in scoring with 14 points. The freshman also led the team with eight rebounds
  • As a team, Keuka College went 14-47 from three. It tied for the second-most makes and was the second-most attempts in program history
  • 96 points away from home for the Wolves tied for the eighth-most away from the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center in program history
  • 20-45 from deep set a new opponent's record against Keuka College. John Carroll was led by Jackson Sartain who scored 55 points, backed by 15 three-pointers

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will conclude their weekend at Hilbert College at 1pm on Saturday as they will face SUNY Canton in the consolation game. The Roos lost to hosts Hilbert 72-66 in the opening game on Friday.
