UW-Stout hits century mark in 107-64 win at Northland College

ASHLAND (November 10, 2021) - Jon Ciriacks scored 20 points and UW-Stout hit the century mark in a 107-64 non-conference win at Northland College Tuesday.

Ciriacks scored 11 points in the first 12 minutes of the game and added nine second half points before sitting down for the rest of the night, playing 18 minutes. Ciriacks was perfect from two-point range, hitting all eight of his shots inside. Ciriacks connected on 2 of 5 3-pointers and made both free throw attempts.

It took the two teams a while to get going. It wasn't until almost two minutes after the opening tip-off before Northland scored the first points of the game. Ciriacks tied the game for Stout (2-0) and the teams traded buckets. Luke Geiger hit a 3-pointer to give Stout their first lead of the game, igniting a 14-2 run for a 21-6 Blue Devil lead.

The Lumberjacks (0-3) scored to make it 21-8, the closest Northland would get the rest of the night. Stout ran out to a 49-21 halftime lead and outscored the Lumberjacks 58-43 in the second half. 

Drew Scott and Jackson Noll both scored collegiate bests, racking up 11 points each. Scott was 5 of 6 from the floor with a free throw and Noll was 4 for 5, making 3 of 4 3-pointers. Freshmen Jacob Walczak and Brenden Weis scored 10 and nine points, respectively, doing their damage in eight minutes of playing time. Geiger tallied eight points and five rebounds. 

As a team, the Blue Devils cracked 100 points for the first time since Nov. 24, 2019, when they downed Finlandia University, 111-73. Stout shot at a 57.7 percent clip, hitting 41 of 71 shots, their best shooting percentage since hitting 58.7 percent (37-63) Dec. 7, 2017 at Silver Lake College. 

Stout shot 14 of 30 3-pointers, shooting 46.7 percent. 

Stout out-rebounded the 'Jacks, 46-26, with junior Carson Moe pulling down a career-best seven boards to lead all players. Scott and Ciriacks each had six rebounds. 

The Lumberjacks' Jordan Brennan led all scorers with 24 points. Brennan was 7 of 15 from the floor, missing all five of his 3-point attempts, but making all 10 of his free throw attempts. George Butvilas added 11 points. As a  team, Northland made 24 of 60 field goal attempts (40.0 percent) and 5 of 27 3-pointers (18.5 percent). 

The Blue Devils take to the road once more before opening at home Tuesday, Nov. 16 by hosting Lakeland University. Stout will be Albion (Mich) College, Saturday, Nov. 20.
