GREENCASTLE, IN - The Benedictine University men's basketball team opened the 2021-22 season with a road win at DePauw in the first of several early season tests.

Benedictine stormed out of the gates, building a 7-0 lead
- DePauw took the lead for the first time with a 7-0 run to move ahead 20-17 halfway through the first
- Zach Derus opened a 7-0 run with a three-pointer as Benedictine opened a 29-23 lead with just over seven minutes left in the half
- DePauw held a 41-38 edge at the break in a competitive first half
- Marvin Agwomoh opened the second half with a layup and Cade Ellingson tied the game with a three-pointer
- DePauw went ahead by six at 65-59 with 6:31 remaining
- Trevor Montiel dropped home a layup to put Benedictine in front at 69-67 with 3:39 to go
- Ellingson put Benedictine ahead for good with a jumper at the 2:01 mark and Montiel netted the final points with inside a minute remaining following a missed DePauw three attempt for the lead
- Michael Johnson blocked an attempt for the tie in the final second to preserve the season opening decision
- The game featured eight ties and 10 lead changes

Benedictine shot 51.8 percent in the second half to help the team overcome the deficit and finished the game shooting 49.2 percent
- The team finished 10-of-11 from the line and held a 36-35 edge on the glass
