Men’s Basketball: Five Titans Score in Double-Digits in Win Over Chatham

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster men's basketball team defeated Chatham, 88-81, at home Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Austin O'Hara (Girard, OH / Girard) led all scorers with a career-high 19 points (6-for-7) and tied a career-high in rebounds with five.
 
Four other Titans scored in double-digits. First-year Andrew Clark (New Middletown, OH / Springfield Local) scored 16 points, while adding seven rebounds and two blocks. Senior Issac Stamatiades (Elkridge MD, Avalon) recorded his seventh double-double of the year (26th of his career) off of 13 points and 13 rebounds. Senior Josh Hutcherson (Uniontown, OH / Uniontown Lake) had the hook shot working as he scored in double digits, putting up 14 points on 6-11 shooting. Senior Daniel Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) scored 11 points.
 
Westminster (7-1), who never trailed in the first half, had its largest lead of the first half of eight points (36-28) with 1:26 on the clock. Chatham (4-4) did keep it close for the majority of the first frame, however, the Titans led 36-32 at halftime. The Cougars continued to battle in the second half and took their first lead of the game at 49-48, following a jumper by Ben Pollock with 14:46 on the clock. Westminster, however, made sure that was Chatham's only lead for the rest of the game. The Titans took their first double-digit lead of the game at 67-57 with a three-pointer by Clark with eight minutes left. Chatham got within six points (78-69) with 4:21 left, but that would be the closest the Cougars would get for the remainder of the contest.
 
Titan first-year Reese Leone (Beloit, OH / West Branch) added seven points, six assists and three steals (both game-highs) and a career-high nine rebounds. Junior Tyler James (Youngstown, OH / Warren JFK) was second on the team with 11 rebounds, to go along with eight points.
 
Chatham's Pollok tallied season-highs in points (30) and blocks (3), while sophomore Marcos Cintron also had a strong showing for the Cougars, putting up 17 points and two steals.
 
The Titans dominated the glass, outrebounding the Cougars 50-33. The Titans also had the advantage in bench points (30-10) and in second-chance points (17-7).
 
Westminster's final regular season game will be a home game against Saint Vincent on Saturday, March 6.
