HUNTINGDON - Junior guard Logan Bailey (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) led four double-digit scorers with 18 points, as The University of Scranton men's basketball team never trailed in an eventual 79-55 victory at Juniata on Saturday in Landmark Conference action.
With the win, Scranton moved to 17-6 overall and 9-3 in the Landmark Conference, as the Royals remain in a first-place tie with Drew and Susquehanna, who were victors over Elizabethtown (92-75) and Catholic (74-58) on Saturday, respectively.
Right from the start, Scranton was in control, as they opened a 14-4 lead in the first three minutes of regulation on the host Eagles. For the rest of the first half, the closest Juniata came to the Scranton lead was four points on two occasions, as Scranton eventually opened back up a double-digit lead with 3:21 left at 36-24.
From there, Scranton remained in control for the remainder of the first half, as they went into intermission up, 40-30, on Juniata.
To start the second half, Scranton quickly put Juniata away for the afternoon, as a 10-0 scoring run by the Royals in the first four minutes of the period ballooned the Royals lead out to 50-30. That deficit was far too much for the host Eagles to come back from the rest of the game, as the Royals eventually took a 25-point lead (65-40) at the nine-minute mark and never looked back the rest of the afternoon.
Overall, Bailey led the way with his 18 point, five rebound and five steal performance on the day. For Bailey, it marked the 16th time on the year he has scored double-figures in a contest, as well.
Elsewhere, sophomore Jack Brockett (Shamong, N.J./Shamong) continued his strong play of late with a 14 point performance after nailing four three-pointers, while senior Matthew Mancuso (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) posted his 22nd double-digit scoring game in 23 games with 13 points. Rounding out the double-digit scorers for Scranton was sophomore Jackson Danzig (Clarks Green, Pa./Abington Heights) who had 10 points.
Juniata was led in the defeat by Cameron Keck, who had 12 points.
The University of Scranton men's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday, as they host Drew in a battle of two of the three teams deadlocked at the top of the Landmark Conference standings. Tip-off in the John Long Center is set for 7 p.m.
