HOUGHTON, NY – Hartwick men's basketball had little difficult with Houghton on Friday night, winning 90-63 over the Highlanders. The Hawks move over .500 with the win as they improve to 12-11 and 4-8 in the E8.
Pat Garey (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) led all players with 18 points. He was one of four players in double figures. Bobby Connors (Rockville Centre, NY/Chaminade) added 16 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Kyle Bradshaw (Tinton Falls, NJ/Manasquan) scored 15 and Tommy Kelly (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) added 13.
The Hawks were in front by 10 after the 10-minute mark, 23-13, and they never looked back as they never led by less than 10 than the rest of the way. 'Wick led by as many as 28 in the second half in a blowout.
Hartwick sank 16 threes in the game. Connors (4), Garey (4), Kelly (3), and Bradshaw (3) accounted for 14 of the treys in the victory. The Hawks shot 47% from the floor on 33-of-70 shooting and 46% (16-of-35) from three.
Garey was 7-of-10 from the floor and 4-of-7 from downtown. Connors was 6-of-11 and he hit four of his five three-point attempts. Bradshaw had a trio of threes as did Kelly. Austin Haskell (Kirkwood, NY/Susquehanna Valley) contributed seven points and seven boards.
The Hawks are back at it tomorrow against Alfred. Tip is 2 p.m.
