WORCESTER --- The WPI men's basketball team saw five players score double figures led by 18 points from senior Jake Wisniewski (West Brookfield, MA) as the Engineers topped the 100-point mark for the 46th time in school history as they defeated Clark 102-62 this evening in NEWMAC action. 

With the win, WPI improves to 16-4 on the season and 7-2 in the NEWMAC.  The Engineers are 16-4 over the first 20 games of the season for the second straight season and the 13th time in the last 17 years.  

The victory is the Engineers 20th straight over the Cougars, who are now 8-12 on the year and 3-6 in league action.  

Wisniewski connected on 7-of-10 from the floor en route to his 18 points and added six rebounds and two assists in the game.  

The trio of junior Colin McNamara (Arlington, MA), freshman John Lowther (Hingham, MA) and junior Garrett Stephenson (Townsend, MA) tallied 12 points apiece, while senior Lou Doherty (Arlington, MA) chipped in with 10 points on 4-of-4 from the floor. 

The Engineers received a career-high nine points freshman John Gates (Hingham, MA), while Jake Needleman (Morganville, NJ) also tallied nine points.  Charles Considine (Pembroke, MA) also reached a new career-best in scoring with six points. 

The Cougars were led by a game-high 23 points from junior Tyler Davern (Webster, MA). Davern connected on 9-of-14 from the floor and finished the double-double with 11 boards. 

Junior Biko Gayman (Fort Pierce, FL) was the only other Cougar in double figures with 15 points and six assists.  Matthew Waggett (Saugus, MA) finished with nine points, while Joshua Schibi (Burlington, CT) added eight. 

WPI started the game with a 10-0 run fueled by four points from Wisniewski over the first four minutes.   WPI led by as many as 13, before Clark closed the gap to five on a three by Biko Gayman with just over 13 minutes left in the first.  

It was all WPI after that as the Engineers used their second 10-0 run of the half pushing the lead to 27-12.  The Engineers led by as many as 29 late in the first before taking a 51-28 lead at the half. 

WPI maintained the sizeable advantage in the second half, leading by as many as 40 en route to the league victory. 

WPI is back in action Saturday when they host Coast Guard for a NEWMAC clash at 2pm, while the Cougars travel to Babson on Saturday for a NEWMAC tilt at 2pm.
