Sewanee Men’s Basketball Unable to Overcome Halftime Deficit in Memphis

MEMPHIS - The Sewanee men's basketball team could not bounce back from a deficit that reached as high as 17 points in the second half, as the Lynx of Rhodes College gave the Tigers an 85-76 loss Friday night from Mallory Gymnasium to open the second half of Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers missed their first seven shots from the field as the Lynx sprinted out to a 12-0 lead.

-Sewanee finally found the cup at the 13:55 mark after a layup by Jonny Crumly. That sparked a 10-0 run by the Tigers before the Lynx answered with back-to-back 3-pointers.

-Rhodes responded by pushing the lead out to 16 points, 31-15, with 4:26 left in the half.

-The Tigers cut the deficit to six points, 33-26, thanks to a Ryan Starr triple with less than a minute remaining, but Mac James drained a 3-pointer of his own to give the hosts a 10-point lead, 36-26, at the break.

-Sewanee started the second half strong, scoring the first six points and forced two turnovers, but the Lynx were able to get the lead back to double figures, 51-39, with 15:02 left in the contest.

-The Tigers were unable to connect, missing their last four shots before Jordan Warlick completed a layup at the 11:41 mark in the second half, still trailing 56-41.

-Sewanee struggled from downtown in the second half, posting a 4-of-16 mark, including missing seven straight in a span of nearly 13 minutes.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Adrian Thomas led the Tigers with 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting, adding seven rebounds and four steals.

-Jordan Warlick totaled 16 points and missed a double-double with nine boards, while Ryan Starr added 13 points.

RHODES KEY STATISTICS
-Koki Wiley led the Lynx with 24 points thanks to a 7-of-8 mark from the field and a perfect 9-of-9 from the charity stripe, adding eight rebounds and three assists.
