St. Thomas men get another January victory

Senior Elijah Hannah finished with 14 points and eight rebounds in 21 minutes off the bench to lead No. 9-ranked St. Thomas Men's Basketball to a 69-50 home win over Bethel in Monday night MIAC play at Schoenecker Arena.

The Tommies (14-2 overall, 10-1 MIAC) improved to 6-1 in January games, all over a 17-day span.

Johnny Tauer moved his nine-season St. Thomas coaching victory total to 199.

Anders Nelson scored 14 points, and Burt Hedstrom added 12 points. The Toms, who had only eight turnovers, used a 13-0 run to build an early 16-3 lead. Bethel never got closer than 10 points thereafter.

The Royals (10-6, 7-4) played their third game without injured leading scorer Granger Kingland. Hudson Urbanus led Bethel with a game-high 18 points.

St. Thomas plays Wednesday at Macalester.
