Emory University juniors Nick Stuck and Lawrence Rowley each totaled 20 points in the leading the Emory men's basketball team to a Saturday home win over the University of Rochester in the University Athletic Association opener for both teams.  The No. 6-ranked Eagles upped their overall record to 11-1 following a 75-57 decision over the Yellowjackets who fell to 9-3.

Stuck, whose output represented a career-high, ended the contest six-of-nine from the floor and eight-of-11 from the charity line in notching his sixth double-figure scoring performance of the campaign.  Rowley, who came through with his 10th double-digit outing of the year, knocked down eight field goals in 12 attempts and four free throws in six opportunities.  Rowley has now shot 50 percent or better from the field in all 12 Emory games this year.  Junior Romin Williams rounded out the double-figure scorers with 13 points.

After a three-pointer by Matt Schner gave Emory a 41-28 advantage with 18:03 left in the game, Rochester responded with a 13-3 spurt over the next 3:10 to creep to within three points.  However, the Eagles were able to put some distance from the visitors following a 13-5 run, which saw Rowley score five points and Stuck and Williams four each, to move to a 57-46 edge with 10:25 on the clock. After a bucket by UR's Ryan Algier, a 10-1 charge, keyed by five points from Rowley and capped by a triple by Williams, put Emory ahead by a commanding 18-point count, 67-49, with 6:12 remaining.

For the game, Emory was successful on 41.4 percent (24-of-58) from the floor while the Yellowjackets were a shade better at 41.5 percent (22-of-53).  UR converted 38.9 percent (7-of-18) from beyond the arc while the Eagles saw 33.3 percent (6-of-18) of the attempts from distance find the mark.  Emory enjoyed a decided edge at the foul line, sinking 21-of-28 compared to Rochester's 42.9 percent.  The Eagles finished with a 38-32 edge on the glass with Luke Morrison and Mason Johnson tying for game honors with six caroms.

Emory returns to action next Friday (Jan. 17) when it plays at New York University.
