The Hope College men's basketball team opened MIAA play with an 89-84 victory against Olivet College on Wednesday in front of a DeVos Fieldhouse crowd of 2,177.
 
Junior center Preston Granger scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Flying Dutchmen (8-4, 1-0 MIAA). 
 
Freshman forward Evan Thomas chipped in a career-high 21 points. The back-and-forth game featured 15 tie scores and 11 lead changes.
 
Hope hosts MIAA preseason coaches poll favorite Albion College on Saturday at DeVos Fieldhouse. Tipoff is 3 p.m.
