MADISON, N.J. - Senior guard Riley Collins dropped in a running floater just before the buzzer, lifting the Drew University men's basketball team to a thrilling 86-85 come-from-behind victory over Carnegie Mellon University in non-conference action Monday afternoon in Baldwin Gym.

Collins' teardrop shot capped an incredible finish in which the lead changed hands five times in the final 20 seconds. After the Tartans went ahead with 4.3 seconds left, Collins took the inbound, drove to the foul line, and elevated for a shot that found nothing but net. He fell to the floor as the buzzer sounded before getting mobbed by his teammates.

Junior forward Lybrant Robinson led all scorers with 23 points for the Rangers (10-2), who trailed by nine with 4:45 left and faced a four-point deficit with just 1:14 remaining. Drew led for a total of 2:29 in the game.

Robinson knocked down five 3-pointers while grabbing six rebounds. Collins finished with 17 points and surpassed Mike Klinger '16 for fourth on Drew's all-time scoring list. He now has 1,643 career points.

Freshman forward Howard McBurnie, Jr. posted 12 points, nine rebounds, and a pair of blocks for the Blue and Green while senior guard Michael Boice added 13 points off the bench, none bigger than a pair of free throws in a 1-and-1 situation with nine seconds left. Junior forward Malachi Walker, Jr. added eight points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots.

Drew has now equaled the 1979-80 team's best start in program history through 12 games.

Trent Suddeth recorded 19 points and 13 rebounds for Carnegie Mellon (7-4).

It was the first-ever meeting between the two schools in men's basketball.

A free throw from Colin McNeil gave the Tartans an 81-77 lead with 1:14 to go. Collins answered with a lay-up at the other end before Carnegie Mellon threw the ball away with 32 seconds left. Robinson then drained a clutch 3-pointer with 20 ticks showing, hitting an off-balance shot from the left elbow on a cross-court pass from junior guard Miles Lewis to put the Rangers up 82-81.

The Tartans answered just eight seconds later, as Weiss converted a fast-break lay-up on a feed from McNeil. Boice then drove hard into the lane to draw a foul before hitting his big free throws to give Drew an 84-83 lead.

After a timeout, Mike Krempa pushed the ball up the floor and found Weiss open at the foul line for a go-ahead jumper, setting up Collins' heroics.

It was a tight contest for nearly the entire first half, when neither side led by more than five over the first 18 minutes. CMU pushed its lead to seven late in the period, but Robinson drained a 3-pointer with 17 seconds left to cut the gap to 43-39 at the half.

The Rangers came back to take the lead (50-49) on a Collins lay-up with 15:50 left, but the Tartans quickly went back in front before pushing their advantage to nine (69-60) with 8:20 to go. Drew narrowed the gap to four on a Robinson trey with 5:45 showing, only to see the visitors score the next five points to match their biggest lead. But Boice answered with a conventional 3-point play with 3:31 remaining to cut it to six, and Collins drained a 3 with 2:32 left to make it a one-point game, setting up the wild finish.

Drew resumes its Landmark Conference schedule while continuing its four-game homestand on Saturday, when it hosts Juniata College at 2 p.m.
