St. Thomas men use second-half surge to lock down road W

Senior Elijah Hannah finished with 21 points and six rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench to lead St. Thomas' 49-21 advantage in bench points as No. 5-ranked Tommie Men's Basketball scored an 89-81 victory at Augsburg in MIAC play Wednesday night in Minneapolis.

St. Thomas (8-1 overall, 4-0 MIAC) sank 11 shots from 3-point range, converted 26-of-30 at the foul line, had only 11 turnovers, and outrebounded Augsburg 39-31.

Sophomore Zach Theisen and junior Ryan Lindberg each sank two 3-pointers to fuel a 20-2 run that built a 64-46 Tommie lead with 11:04 to play. The host team never got closer than eight down the stretch.

St. Thomas' Anders Nelson had 18 points and fellow sophomore guard Riley Miller sank four baskets behind the arc and closed with 14 points. Lindberg scored 10.

Senior All-American Booker Coplin had 24 points, seven rebounds and four assists to lead the Auggies (5-2, 3-1).

St. Thomas is off until a January 4 game at Concordia-Moorhead.
