BROOKLYN – The Yeshiva University men's basketball team continued its momentum on Tuesday evening, by earning a convincing Skyline victory over St. Joseph's College Brooklyn, 85-51, at the Hill Center. Yeshiva (7-1 overall) has now won seven consecutive games and remain undefeated in conference play at 3-0. St. Joseph's College Brooklyn snaps its four-game winning streak and drops to 0-1 in the Skyline (4-2 overall).

It was a career-game for senior forward Gabriel Leifer, as he generated a triple-double. The Lawrence native led all players with 16 points, 17 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Five YU players reached double figures in scoring. Senior guard Simcha Halpert and freshman guard Ofek Reef each scored 15 points, with the former forcing two steals and the latter grabbing three rebounds. Junior forward Caleb Milobsky had a solid game with 11 points and seven rebounds, while senior guard Bar Alluf had 10 points with five boards. Fourth-year guard Daniel Katz generated eight points and dished out five assists.

"Thought we did a great job following scout tonight and defending a really good offensive team," Yeshiva University Head Coach Elliot Steinmetz said.

Yeshiva led from wire-to-wire. In the early stages of the game, Katz buried a 3-point field goal to give the Maccabees a 10-3 advantage. The Bears rallied with a 7-2 run to shrink their deficit to two. Yeshiva took over from that point on, as successful shots from downtown by Leifer began and concluded a run of 13 unanswered points that gave Yeshiva a commanding 23-10 hold, with 11:33 remaining in the first half. St. Joseph's Brooklyn got the game to as close as eight points, but Yeshiva pulled away to take a 46-29 lead at the intermission.

The Bears could not generate a run to get back into the game. With 8:15 remaining in regulation time, Reef forced a steal and sprinted down the court for a slam dunk that gave the Blue and White a commanding 69-41 hold. Yeshiva steadily increased its lead to as many as 34 and went on to earn the Skyline victory, 85-51.

For the Maccabees, sophomore guard Max Leibowitz and junior guard Sammy Mandel each scored four points, with the former bringing down a pair of rebounds. Junior guard Eitan Halpert added two points with three assists and two rebounds.

For the Bears, junior guard Frank Reali scored a team-high 13 points off the bench.

Yeshiva will continue its four-game road trip on Thursday evening, at Farmingdale State College, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
