LOS ANGELES — Ryan Kaneshiro was named the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, marking the second week in a row that an Oxy player has won the award.

Kaneshiro, a senior guard from Santa Clarita, led Oxy's defense in two games where they gave up just 56 points per game on the week. Kaneshiro averaged seven rebounds, three steals and 3.5 assists, while playing good on-ball defense.

Caleb Yellin-Flaherty, a senior from New York City, earned the honor last week.

Kaneshiro won the honor several times last season, along with setting Oxy's single season assist record and leading the nation in assist to turnover ratio.

Oxy is 3-1 on the season.

The Tigers next game is on Tuesday against Bethesda at 7 p.m.
