Trinity Men's Basketball Blitzes Bard To Reach Finals Of Lafrance Hospitality Tourney

Dartmouth, Mass. - Senior guard Christian Porydzy (South Glastonbury, Conn.) scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures in the season-opening, 93-74 win for the Trinity College Bantams over the Bard College Raptors in the Lafrance Hospitality Men's Basketball Tournament this evening at Tripp Athletic Center.  The Bantams which jumped out to a 10-point halftime advantage at 45-35 and shot 50 percent (18-36) after intermission en route to the triumph.

Senior co-captain Nick Seretta (Greenfield, Mass.) added 14 points and seven boards for the Bantams, who received 12 points each from senior co-captain Kyle Padmore (Milton, Mass.) and junior Colin Donovan (Westboro, Mass.). Senior Jadakis Brooks (Elmira, N.Y.) rounded out the quintet in double figures with 11 points and eight caroms for Trinity, which received nine points and six rebounds from junior forward Donald Jorden (Tampa, Fla.).  The host University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Corsairs posted an 89-46 victory over the Husson College Eagles in the other first-round game of the 22nd Annual tourney.  Bard, now 0-2, faces the Eagles in the consolation game tomorrow at noon, while the title contest between Trinity and the Corsiars follows at 2 pm.

Sophomore Avgoustinos Sofroniou (Limassol, Cyprus) posted a double-double performance with a game-high 21 points and 12 rebounds in the setback for Bard (0-2), which received 17 points and five caroms from freshman Elliot Harris (Cambridge, Mass.). Freshman Stefanos Psarras (Athens, Greece) added 14 points and four assists for the Raptors, who received 13 points and three boards from sophomore Stamatis Koulouris (Athens, Greece). Bard shot 50 percent (29-58) from the field overall on the evening, but the Raptors hurt themselves with 25 turnovers.
