Hiram Men’s Basketball Wraps up Wells College Finger Lakes Classic with a 94-74 win over Keuka

AURORA, N.Y. - November 10, 2019 – Sherman Dean III knocked down six triples as the Hiram Terriers men's basketball team topped the Keuka College Wolves, 94-74, on Sunday at the Farentold Athletic Wing to sweep the Wells College Finger Lakes Classic Tournament.

Following Dean III's second, made three-pointer of the game with 13:38 remaining in the first half, Keuka went on a 12-1 run over the next three minutes to take a 10-point, 27-17 lead.

However, the Terriers responded with an 18-0 run to take a 35-27 lead, keyed by eight more points from Dean III. The Terriers would end the first half on a 31-8 run, taking a 48-35 lead into the locker room.

At the break, Dean III lead Hiram with 18 points, while the Terriers shot 52.8 percent from the floor in the first half.

Hiram extended their lead out to 15 to start the second half on a pair of free throws by Tyler McMillion and led by as many as 22 in the second half.

Keuka cut the Terriers' lead to 10 with a bit of run to start the second half, trailing 64-54 with 14:58 to play following Nana Oteng's layup. But the Terriers answered with a 10-0 run, highlighted by dunks by Oliver Clingain and Jalen Kirksey to take a 20-point lead.

McMillion's three-pointer with 8:52 to play gave Hiram its largest lead of the game, 82-60, and from there the Terriers coasted to a 20-point, 94-74 victory.

Dean III led the Terriers with 24 points, adding four rebounds and two assists, while Kirksey scored 20-plus for the second-consecutive game, tallying 21 points and five rebounds. For their efforts, Kirksey and Dean III were named to the Wells College Finger Lakes Classic All-Tournament Team, with Kirksey garnering MVP honors.

Antonio McQueen added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Oliver Clingain scored nine points and six rebounds off the bench.

As a team, Hiram shot 56.1 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Wolves, 49-35.

The Terriers next head to Berea, Ohio to take on the 22nd-ranked Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium.
